Tonight I was lucky enough to go to the Madison Plus Swap and Shop.  I met Gabi Gregg of GabiFresh, Beck from The Manfattan Project.  I saw Kelli B. from afar from Fatshion Insider and totally bombed not realizing who Nicolette Mason was.  She is the uber amazing blogger who I follow and she works at Marie Claire.. What a dope I am.  From Nicolette, I was able to snag an amazing Anna Scholz from Simply Be Dress that is black and has silver stars on it.  I am so excited to be able to wear it this week.  A chartreuse accordion pleated dress from Asos and a black and white blazer both from Gabi’s closet (tags still on).  The two dresses are awesome, but the blazer needs some gentle handling and tailoring so it will fit my arms.  I didn’t realize it has lining throughout and it needs to be cut out, so off to the tailor we go..

 

All in all, it was a lovely evening.  I cannot believe I met these amazing women!  I cannot wait until they do it again!

Remember, I am not a shoe person…

 

So, recently I went to the doctor and he bestowed upon me the wonderful news that in addition to my sciatica (which is brutal), I now have arthritis.  YAY!  Because of the wonderful news, I realized that it is finally time to break down and wear some really cushy and possibly old lady shoes.  I went to the mall in a panic and walked into Rockport.  I have been in there on and off over the years, but I never purchased their shoes because I found them to be very expensive and you all know how I *love* a great bargain.  I did look around and admit to myself that I may now, at this crossroads, need to purchase a pair of shoes at full price.  The lovely girl measured me after asking what size shoe I am.  I told her that I am a 10 and when she measured me, she proved me wrong.  I am a 9 WIDE!  So… I purchased a pair of shoes and signed up for their newsletter.  I really loved the shoes I bought, Faye in Golden Rod.  What a beautiful pair of shoes.  Nice thick leather, super comfortable soles and I was off and running.  I wore them to work the next day and was able to STAND all day.   I sat because I wanted to and not that I needed to.  It was amazing. This is what it is supposed to feel like.  My feet have already stopped hurting and I can’t believe shoes this comfortable exist.

I then went to Amazon and Endless and trolled for other wonderful Rockport shoes that were cute and comfortable.. and lo and behold I am a complete convert.  I ordered the Faye in black also and these beautiful Ashley Moc’s in pink that are wonderful!  God Bless Amazon!

I was never one to gush over Valentine’s day because you should be loving all year, not just one day, but hey, it is a reason for a gift!

It gives me the opportunity to wear pink and red and not be ashamed about it and to be extra smushy with my princess and just to be extra gushy.  What can I say, I am a romantic at heart.  I figured since today was February 1, I should wear something pink … so here it goes.  I found this when I was Shopping my Closet!  I bought it a few years ago at the Liz Claiborne outlet.  What a great find then and again today!  Oh, and I think I paid $10 for it?  Perfecto!

Yesterday we had a mismatch day at work because we are trying to stop bullying in the school (huge problem).  So I decided to wear a black and white plaid shirt with black and white stripes.  It kind of matches and there isn’t too much of a “wow that is so not good together” factor, but I did my duty… What do you think?

This is the way it turned out…

I thought pairing it with a cute gap tunic dress, leggings and my Duo riding boots in Camel really would make this outfit pop and let me tell you, it did.  I think that it is totally fine to dress up during the day and add a bit of sparkle.  Why should all the ‘evening’ clothes be reserved for parties?

I wore my Missoni for Target ruana and an Asos dolman sleeve t-shirt that was the perfect terracotta color and complimented it with an old wooden and gold tone Banana Republic necklace that I had gotten on clearance.  I added smoky quartz and gold earrings from Etsy and I felt like a million bucks.  Oh, I think I want to bring back pins… thoughts?

Etsy, street vendors, etc.  I really love this outfit today because I feel tall and slim and really romantic and pretty.  I know that probably sounds goofy, but I think that when you look good, you feel good!
