Vintage Heaven

Plus Size Girls

So, a little birdie told me that there was an ENTIRE store in BROOKLYN devoted to plus size vintage.  I really didn’t believe it.  I did some research and I found Redress NYC on Boerum Place in Downtown.  I decided to take a trip and see what the store is like.  I was *so* pleased when I got a spot right in front.  What a beautiful store!  I walked in and was surrounded by racks of beautiful vintage and consignment clothing.  New With Tags is how I would describe the two goodies I snagged… A Calvin Klein Sweater and an Abby Z top, which is perfect for any night on the town!

Please go visit this lovely store and peek through the racks.  You never know what you will find!

Happy Shopping!

After Christmas Sales

2009.12.28

After ChrismasBeing the Shop-A-Holic that I am, I was up at the crack of dawn Saturday to go to the mall.  I was prepared to hustle and fight and elbow my way through the masses.  I had my bodyguards and coffee in tow and my very heavy shoulder bag turned weapon.  I had a plan.

At the mall, there were several parking spaces.  It was quiet, calm and like any other day of the year, only decorated with trees and garland and glitter.  Sale signs were posted, but doing the percentage math, nothing was that amazing.  I had all the cashmere sweaters, scarves, hats and gloves I wanted.  I received a new bag for Christmas from my awesome hubby and what else could a girl want?  The answer, my friends was obvious… nothing.  Not one thing peaked my interest.  I did not yearn for anything, desire to wait on line for anything.  I came home with nothing.

That is the sad truth and confession of this shop-a-holic for today…

NYC’s Fashion Night Out, September 10

2009.09.03

FNO

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am currently obsessing.  A few months ago I heard about Fashion Night Out (FNO).  I looked into it, I researched and it sounded very interesting.  Fast forward to this past week and the e-mails started arriving.  I read and researched some more.  On twitter, we are tweeting about it, we are facebooking it.  We are GOING!  No question about it.  You can log on and create your own itinerary!  How FABULOUS!

If you look on the list at http://fashionsnightout.com, you can click on each retailer that is participating and see what specials they are offering at each location.  Coach is having some local graffiti artists come and create one of a kind designs.  Chanel is allowing you to work with designers to design your own 2.55.  Our own Lola’s Boutique in Brooklyn is participating.  Knowing the staff at Lola’s, they are lovely and wonderful and always help out for a cause!  I would highly suggest a visit to Mariana and J.  Lola’s has a range of sizes from 2-24.  They will make you look and feel wonderful!  They not only decorate your person, but decorate your house.

As part of FNO, a clothing drive will be held and the clothing will be donated to the NYC AIDS fund.  The clothes will then be given out to 17 AIDS related NYC charities.  Many of the proceeds of the night’s sales will also be donated to the charities.  I will shop for any and all reasons, but for a cause, absolutely.  So meet me, email me your itinerary and we will compare.  There are so many wonderful places and things to see and buy.  I wouldn’t miss it!!!
