Chunky Cardi… Not so much!

Calvin Klein Cardi

So one of my faithful followers asked a burning question last night…How do we wear sweaters in this super chilly weather and not look bulky?

My darlings, I have the answer…at least I can tell you what works for me…layer (read: cashmere).  Because I am a buxom babe, I prefer to wear layers of thinner materials.  I hardly ever wear turtlenecks, because I have a large bust and it makes my bust look larger.  So, usually, it is a v  or u neck and sometimes I will change it up and wear a boatneck.  Generally, I will wear a tank top, a long sleeved shirt, then a sweater over it.  I always top it off with a scarf of some sort because my neck is *always* cold.

This gorgeous Calvin Klein boyfriend cardi is perfect for putting over a tank, tee and some leggings.  I can definitely agree with wearing this with black sweatpants or jeans.

I always hit Etsy up when I look for some beautiful hand made goodies.  I am lusting over this gorgeous Felted Wool Wrap Top.  I think investing in a piece like this for a staple is a good idea.  I am looking to decrease my closet and my collection and only invest in pieces that will go with everything.  I am definitely looking for quality and not quantity.  This winged cardigan is a work of art.  Please think about how beautiful a black version of this cardi would be with almost every outfit in your closet!  Maybe I will ask for it for Valentine’s Day!

Cashmere is always my go to when it is really cold and I do not want to add bulk.  I would always grab this cardi and go.  What a beautiful investment this is not to mention the matching pants!  Add some hot chocolate, a book and leave me at home for the weekend!

Gap is a go to when you want a cute, frilly, and ultra feminine cardigan.  This flowered number is on my wishlist for the Spring!  I love the choices of colors and the fact that it will be divine over a black outfit.  Can’t wait for it to go on sale!

Lane Bryant has a beautiful Tunic.  I would have added a long sleeved tee with this and of course some leggings.  Break out those slouchy knee high boots and you are good to go.

Don’t forget your scarf!

Stay sassy!

Playful Prints

Anna tunic

So, the holidays are over.  The frigid days of January’s winter have set in.  I need something to make me look forward to spring in three months.  Just when the idea of sweaters and snow boots start to get old, Cruise wear and Pre Spring collections come out.  Normally, I don’t get too excited because I don’t every love anything.  This year, however, flowers and prints abound.  I am loving so many different items, this may be a very long list!

First stop, over the pond in the UK.  Evans is a great site, you just have to realize that the sizing is different.  Make sure you read the size conversion chart if you get anything from here.  I am ADORING this Floral Shirt. I am a huge fan of tunics and leggings or skinny jeans.  I think this shirt would look stunning with any of the above and a short bootie.  Another cute top that has an 80′s vibe is here.  It is all sortsa fun!

My lovelies over at La Grande Dame always prove a great resource for beautiful designer clothing.  This Anna Scholz tunic dress has been a piece that I have loved for so long.  This will so go straight into summer with some beautiful sandals!  Maybe when it goes on sale…

One Stop Plus has a nice selection from so many plus size vendors.  I really think that this tunic is so sweet and it will again work straight into the summer.  Sign up for their newsletters and the sales are sweet!

Monif C. is a designer who knows her stuff!  I am so insanely obsessed with this dress.  Anytime I can find a dress with built in jewelry, it is a score!  From the chiffon material to the beautiful color, this is the dress for me.  I also love sales.  However, if you are going to invest in one cocktail dress, I would consider this.  I would wear it for a wedding with heels, a wrap and a beautiful evening bag or to a shower with flat sandals and a cute purse.  It can be dressed up or down.

Call me a child of the 80′s.  I cannot help loving this tunic from Lane Bryant.  I would so pair this with some skinny jeans and a motorcycle jacket.  You can get an insanely wonderful one from ReDress Vintage NYC.  They specialize in sized 14 and up!  I visited these lovely ladies the other day and the store is insane.  I posted about them before.  They are SO worth the visit!

Another awesome vintage website that I found off another awesome blog, MarieDenee, is L.A. Vintage.  They carry an awesome array of plus sizes.  Please make sure tho, to look at the measurements.  I haven’t gotten anything from them yet, but I am loving a few vintage pieces for the Spring.  This dress is amazing for the summer.  I can’t take it.  I am not a fan of yellow, but I would snap this up in a second!  I am obsessed with purple, so this dress would absolutely take up residence in my closet.  If you are loving polka dots, like one of my faithful blog followers, this is the dress for you.  It is a combination Pretty Woman meets Donna Reed!   Rachel Zoe happens to be one of my favorite stylists.  This is a dress that she would rock with a belt, huge floppy hat, and an armful of bangle bracelets.  I second that motion!

Whatever your preference, pick a pattern, pick them all, love and accessorize away!

Spandex is a Right?

2009.10.04

A good friend of mine has a saying… Spandex is a privilege not a right…I have to say, I love leggings.  I am thrilled that they are back in style.  I wear them with long tunics and short dresses.  Things that need tights, but can be turned edgy with a swanky pair of leggings.  There are all new styles of leggings; leopard, zebra, sparkly, zippered, lace, skirted, etc.

Today there was a festival in my neighborhood.  There were so many pairs of leggings worn very suitably it warmed the cockles of my heart.  When I was standing on line to get a mandatory Sausage and Pepper hero for my husband, I was in shock.  I saw a pair of leggings, brown, button on the ankle and oh so cute, but when I looked up to see the rest of the outfit, I saw the black underwear plainly visible through the thin fabric.  I applaud this lady for having the confidence, really, I do, I swear, I mean it.  No lies, but… Visible underwear… REALLY!?  Get a lovely tunic to go with that, or if you really want to wear your short top with your leggings, please a thong would be more than apropos.

Of course, I have compiled a list of leggings and websites where you can get them at all different prices and sizes…

Here we go…

Gap … 5 but they look COMFY!…http://tinyurl.com/y9x7tyy

So there you go, my fashion dolls, so many selections for you to choose from to cover your lovely legs this fall and winter and spring and then over again next year!

Some people say that if you were around the the trend was going strong time one, than you should not give into it time two.  I say, ROCK IT!!!  If you don’t want to admit to leggings, and want people to think that they are tights, throw on some knee high boots to cover the tell tell signs :)
