Wide calf BootSo, let’s talk boots.  This is a huge thorn in my side.  I have never, even at my skinniest, been able to get knee high boots.  I was not one of those lucky ladies to be able to walk into a store and purchase a pair of knee high boots.  So that led me to the internet on my quest for wide calf boots.   I hope that my years of searching and road testing boots can help you lovely ladies here!

What one has to realize tho is that you have to know your calf circumference.  You should measure your calf at its widest point with a soft tape measure or a piece of string and the put it against the ruler.  Not all wide calf boots are the same circumference.  I beg you ladies, please measure and read the circumference to save yourself heartache and tons of money in return fees!

First of all, I always hit Zappos first!  I type in “wide calf boots” in the search box and I get six pages of results.  Most of the “wide calf” boots on Zappos are 15″ circumference.  Please read the descriptions!  I love Ros Hommerson and RSVP.

The next website is Widewidths.  This is a site that is devoted only to wide widths.  They give a thorough description of all the boots and they have a very good selection of brands!  I have never purchased anything from them, but I hear they are a wonderful site!

If you want to look to Australia for boots, you can search this website Wide Calf Boots.  They have beautiful boots and the reviews are great!

If you want to hop over the pond to the UK, check this site DuoBoots.  I have read many reviews about this website and they all sound wonderful.  The only draw back is that the rate of the dollar to the euro these days is icky, so that prevents me from ordering them for now, but the dollar has to rebound some day!

Another UK site is Evans.  They have some adorable boots and shoes and clothing, but that is for another post!  You may have to convert the millimeters to inches, but generally, 440 MM converts to 16.5 inches.  Make sure you check out the size chart :)

Today I got an email from DSW saying that they now carry wide calf boots.  I checked it out and nothing over 16″ circumference.  That may, of course, be good for some, so check it out!

One Stop Plus and Woman Within are resources for all things plus size.  I checked out their selections and some of the boots are very cute.  I know a few ladies who have purchased from them and recommend them highly!

Now, for the girl who needs a boot for all seasons, I would go over the pond again to The Welly Shop.  They have some adorable rain boots that are British and French and some other wonderful brands.  I did break and order from there, and when I get my boots I will give an update!  The customer service was fabulous and the ladies are very helpful over there.  They answered my emails almost instantly!

I got an email one day about a company called Ayla boots.  I went on the website and saw the most beautiful breath-taking boots I had ever seen in my life.  Instantly, I ordered two pairs.  One in black and one in distressed brown.  The reviews were superb and the styles were one better than the other.  I received my boots and ripped the box open.  To my dismay, they were not a good fit.  I had to send them back, with tears, but I may order a size bigger.  You can order by shoe size and then by calf size.  They go up to a size 18 inch calf.  Beautiful boots, perfectly put together.  I was definitely upset about this mishap.

So, my lovely, luscious ladies, please feel free to enjoy browsing the websites and getting some loverly boots for the fall and winter!
